Pastoral Ministries

These Pastoral Ministries are services that highlight special phases of life:

Baptism

Baptism is the gateway to the Christian faith, either on personal profession of faith as an adult or parental sponsorship in the case of a child. It is normally held during the principal service (10:30 a.m. Sunday service) at various times during the year.

Parents and adult candidates are requested to telephone the Rector (at 514 866-7113) to discuss the requirements necessary for Baptism at St. George’s.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a sign of mature commitment to Christ with a public Profession of faith, including a laying-on-of-hands by the Diocesan Bishop. For those who have already been confirmed but who are experiencing a renewal of faith, a reaffirmation of vows before the Bishop is possible. Preparation classes are held as required.

For more information, please speak with the Rector (514 866-7113).

Reception in the Anglican Communion

The Reception is addressing the needs of those who have already received Confirmation from a Bishop in another Communion, and who express the desire to live out their Christian life within the Anglican context. This service also constitutes an “official welcome” from the community into this fellowship.

For more information, please speak with the Rector 514 866-7113).

Marriage

Marriage at St. George's is for couples who wish to have God bless their union. It is expected that couples will meet with the Rector several times, and also take a short Marriage Preparation Course.

Interested couples should call the Church Office (514 866-7113) and plan to attend the Sunday service.

Funerals

Parishioners, persons with past connections or links through present parishioners and friends may be buried from St. George's. Ordinarily a church funeral is preferred, but burial from a funeral home is permitted. Parishioners are encouraged to think ahead as to the type of service and music they would prefer and to leave such details on file with the Church Office (514 866-7113).

Please contact the Rector concerning these matters.
