Ministries Within St. George’s

Here is an overview of the various ways by which you can fulfill and nurture your Christian life.

Altar Guild

Each week a small company of faithful women and men offer their time and skill to help set up the church for worship. For Sunday services, members work as a team of two on Saturday mornings arranging the Altar flowers (if available), and preparing for Communion the next day. No previous experience is necessary and training is provided.
If you are interested, please contact William Raso through (514 866-7113).

Ministry during the Service

Readers and Intercessors

These people help in church by reading lessons and leading intercessions. Each participant is asked to attend a training session held annually on a Saturday. Please contact Victoria Netten through (514 866-7113).

Servers

People of all ages are welcome to assist in the conduct of our worship as crucifers, torch bearers, and general servers. Training is given to those involved and application to become a Server should be made through (514 866-7113).

Sidespersons

At our main services, parishioners and visitors are greeted by this committed group of men and women who also distribute service bulletins and books, take up the collection and generally assist. Information can be obtained from the coordinator of the sidespersons, Fred Dowker, through (514 866-7113).

The Guild

This very active body of women and men meet regularly throughout the year to deal with the organizing of events, lunch and often special presentations. The Guild conducts a major Christmas Sale in October and operates the Boutique St. George’s. Monies collected at these events are given to various missions and social agencies and special needs within the parish.
For information please contact Sheila Brehn, President, through (866-7113).

Our Parish Newsletter, The Georgian View

Read about current activities and parish information in this, our Parish Newsletter, which is published five times a year.

Newcomers’ Follow-Up

Creating a sense of Christian family at St. George’s is one of our priorities. One of the ways of accomplishing this is to welcome and help integrate newcomers into the parish. Newcomers’ meetings are usually held two or three times a year. For more information, you may contact (514 866-7113).

The Telephone Network

There is a telephone network of people who call members from time to time, to keep in touch and inform everyone of upcoming activities. For more information or to volunteer to help, please call Nellie Breddy through (514 866-7113).
