Ministry to young people is a very important one, because youth is the future of our Church. We offer activities and programmes suited to the needs of our youth according to their age.

A Programme Engineered for our Children

Held during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service, our Church School offers Christian education to children aged 4 and up to those in Grade 6. We follow the Whole People of God curriculum, a lectionary-based programme following the Church seasons.

The Fall 2006 Programme

Church school begins in church with the Children's Ministry after the first hymn, then moving into a more intimate setting. The curriculum is lectionary-based, following the weekly lessons.

If you have a child to register or if you would like to join our team of dedicated teachers, please speak to (or at 514 866-7113).

Age-related Activities

Activities are varied and suited to the various age groups. Younger children typically learn the story of Jesus through arts and crafts activities.

Older children learn about the life of Jesus and early Christians, as well as about Christianism and Anglicanism. They learn their way by searching through the Bible, reading through various books (our library is a good source of material), or reflecting on various themes throughout the Christian year.

All children sing hymns and praise songs. The hymns they learn are generally used during our Family Eucharist (once a month, usually on the 4th Sunday, unless there is a special event in the Christian calendar). They also generally prepare plays for that occasion.

For information on any of the above Children’s activities, or anyone wishing to help, please contact (or at 514 866-7113).

Preparation for Communion and Confirmation

The Anglican Church welcomes children of all ages at the Lord’s table whenever they are ready to communicate. As such, there is no formal First Communion. Nonetheless, we do spend some time to instruct children on the meaning of Communion and on the particulars of the Eucharistic service, so they know not only why we eat the body and blood of Jesus Christ, but also how it is prepared. The various services are also explained during Sunday School.

Confirmation is usually held when people are ready and fully aware of it. It is usually offered to willing teenagers or adults, as they become fully aware of the nature of their Christian engagement.

For information of Pre-Confirmation classes, see this section.

Children start their Sunday programme together learning hymns. Music is generally lead by musicians from our Youth Group.
